Aim
The aim of this website is to provide scientists working on the management of locust and grasshopper pests access to relevant scientific literature. Especially those working in developing countries often have only limited possibilities for literature searches and for obtaining publications.
We hope this collection will promote and facilitate research on this important group of insect pests.
Scope
We tried to assemble a representative collection of titles of publications starting around 1950. The full texts of more than 250 articles (approximately 4.500 printed pages) are included here. This is by no means a comprehensive collection on locust and grasshopper literature, not even for a specific subject matter or time period.
However, some of the older and classical articles from the 1950's and 1960's were included which are not widely available. These publications are of special importance because they describe research done during a period of frequent and large-scale plagues. In many cases not comparable, more recent research exists. The remaining included articles are mainly project reports and publications from the 1990's which are not restricted by copyright.
Acknowledgements
This website originates from a CD-Rom which was prepared in 2003 by ISPI and CIRAD, with financial support by the GTZ Locust and Grasshopper project. This project operates within the framework of FAO-EMPRES (Desert locust) program and the CD-Rom was a contribution to EMPRES.
We are further grateful to the Natural Resources Institute-University of Greenwich (United Kingdom), as well as to the LUBILOSA project and to the authors for authorization to reproduce the full text articles.
